Meet Kate Johnson
I was born and raised in St Louis, MO. I was an athlete from a young age, playing: soccer, basketball, softball, volleyball and gymnastics, before settling on volleyball in high school. I played on both my high school team as well as a club team throughout high school.
I attended University of Denver for college where I double majored in Biology and Psychology and minored in Chemistry. In college, I worked part time as a gymnastics coach and fell in love with coaching. After graduation I joined FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) and spent the next several years with them, doing ministry on various college campuses across the country.
I went on to get my master’s degree in clinical psychology and am currently in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the area. My husband Greg and I live in Centennial, CO. Greg and I have enjoyed co-coaching girls’ volleyball teams at our parish, St Thomas More, over the past several years. I believe sports are not just a way to have fun or help kids stay active and fit (while that is certainly true and important!), but also can be a mechanism for building virtue and growing in your faith.
