Meet Ed Lugo
When asked “Why St. John Paul the Great?” Director of Mission and Formation Ed Lugo said:
”I guess the short answer is that the Lord made it abundantly clear that I'd be a fool if I didn't. I worked for the Church for 16 years in high school education & youth ministry, here in Denver and in Tampa, Florida, along with serving as the non-profit administrator of a small religious community. I thought my years of working for the Church were behind me when I transitioned into a career in real estate. That career was just starting to take off when I approached the president of St. John Paul the Great to recommend a friend for him to consider hiring. I was a bit shocked to come away from that conversation with an invitation from the Lord to consider joining St. John Paul the Great.
After learning about the vision for the school and getting to know the people who were behind it, I recognized that this school was everything I had ever wanted in my career working for the Church. The potential of St. John Paul the Great to form saints in a community of excellence is something I knew I had to be part of. I realized that this was the school I wanted my kids to be formed in and as I wrestled with the decision to come back to education or to move forward in my new career, I knew I'd never forgive myself for turning down an opportunity to be part of something that can so powerfully transform culture and change the lives of the young men and women who will walk through the doors of St. John Paul the Great.”
