Meet Kelly Weakland
I was born and raised in Colorado and received a Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I recently finished a post-graduate certificate in School Counseling at Denver Seminary. I am certified as a school counselor with the Colorado Department of Education, as a well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I currently serve with St. Raphael’s Counseling as a school counselor for the Catholic schools within the archdiocese of Denver. My role as a school counselor is to help students discover and cultivate their own academic, social, emotional and spiritual strengths so that they can be prepared for high school, college and beyond. I strive to meet the needs of all students, regardless of background, believing every student is a child of God. I enjoy collaborating with principals, teachers and parents to foster a supportive learning environment where all students can be successful.
After graduating college, I returned to my hometown of Conifer, Colorado where I volunteered as a leader for the confirmation team at my home parish, which included 8th grade students and a team of high school students. During my time on the confirmation team, I fell in love with the students and grew deeper in my faith. I truly believe these students taught me more about how to love God and what it means to be on fire for the Lord than I ever taught them! Since then, I decided I wanted to continue working with and serving middle and high school students in some capacity and eventually felt the Lord call me to be a school counselor. As a member of the community at Our Lady of Lourdes I am looking forward to the opportunity to and get to know and to serve the students and families of St. John Paul the Great!
