Formation

At John Paul the Great, each student participates in a rich formation program that builds character, fosters friendships, and encourages joy. Throughout the year, students will find opportunities to explore nature, learn new skills, compete with their peers, and deepen their faith.

  • Classical education Socratic discussion among high school students

    Daily Convocation

    A 5-minute address given to students at the beginning of each day from a guest presenter.

    PURPOSE

    To provide students with many voices witnessing their relationship with Christ and the Church.

    Household System

    A school-wide, intentional, and organic community system.

    PURPOSE

    To foster authentic Christian friendship and to ensure that every student at JPG is known and loved.

  • Students participating in classical Catholic high school discussion seminar

    Formation Fridays

    Dedicated time on several Fridays per trimester for guest speakers, excursions, life-skill projects, household competitions, and more.

    PURPOSE

    To provide frequent and extended opportunities for in-depth human formation.

    Formation Encounters

    Off-site and multi-day formation experiences such as mission trips, service projects, pilgrimages, or backpacking excursions.

    PURPOSE

    To supplement formation on campus with life-changing encounters of culture and beauty.

    Senior Master Project

    Two-year project completed senior year.

    PURPOSE

    To provide students with the opportunity to develop skills needed to gain mastery over a demanding project.

    Athletics

    All students participate in competitive activities, and for those who choose, an official sport at JPG.

    PURPOSE

    To form the “body” in a full formation program of body, mind, and soul.
