FR. MIKE SCHMITZ
We are honored to welcome Father Mike Schmitz as the featured speaker for our 2026 JPG Gala. Father Mike Schmitz is the director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Duluth as well as the Chaplain for the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Known for his clarity, authenticity, and engaging communication style, Fr. Mike has reached millions through his work with Ascension, including the widely popular The Bible in a Year (Podcast) and The Catechism in a Year. His ability to present the truths of the Catholic faith in a compelling and accessible way has made him one of the most influential Catholic voices today.
Through his ministry, Fr. Mike invites people to encounter Christ more deeply, live with conviction, and pursue what is true and lasting. His message resonates especially with young people, calling them to live boldly and faithfully in the world. We are grateful to have him join us for this special evening as we continue the mission of forming students in mind, body, and soul.

About St. John Paul the Great
JPG opened its doors in 2022 with a bold vision: to form students who are rooted in truth, guided by faith, and prepared to lead in a rapidly changing world.
Since then, we’ve tripled in size and we got to send off 35 graduates across the country to continue bearing witness to the light of Christ that had been cultivated during their time at JPG.
