Scholarships at St. John Paul the Great
To ensure all families can send their students to JPG to grow academically, spiritually, and personally, we offer multiple ways, in addition to financial aid, for students to earn a scholarship here. These scholarships follow different timelines. Both are decided without any regard for what your family can pay.
The JPG Merit Scholarship
$10,000 awarded per year. This scholarship is open to all incoming 9th graders.
Requirements:

- Apply for Financial Aid
- Apply for the JPG Merit Scholarship
- Submit One Letter of Recommendation from your principal or priest
- Submit one Letter of Recommendation from your teacher
BroomTree Foundation Scholarships
In honor of Monsignor Ken Leone, students are awarded scholarships based on JPG’s three pillars: academics, spirituality, and whole human formation.
Requirements:
- Apply to JPG
- Apply for Financial Aid
- Apply for the BroomTree Foundation Scholarship
- Submit one essay based on one of the prompts from the application essay questions.
Both scholarships require the student to be an incoming 9th grader.

BroomTree Foundation Scholarships
IN HONOR OF MONSIGNOR KEN
JPG seeks to form each student’s intellect, soul, and whole person. Our three scholarships recognize incoming students who demonstrate exceptional promise in one of these areas.
To apply for a scholarship, an incoming student must submit one essay in response to one of two prompts.
ACADEMIC
St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship
For the student whose curiosity inspires thoughtful questions, meaningful discovery, and a lifelong love of learning.
Students must also score in the 80th percentile or above on the High School Placement Test.
VIRTUE
St. Therese of Lisieux Scholarship
For the student who quietly does the small things with a faithful heart even when no one is watching.
LEADERSHIP IN CO-CURRICULARS
St. John Bosco Scholarship
For the student who is a Christ-centered servant leader, on a sports field, in a club, or in group activities.

How to Apply for the BroomTree Foundation Scholarships
1 - Apply to JPG
This scholarship is awarded to new students who are applying to or have applied to JPG for the 2027-2028 school year.
2 - Complete One Pillar Essay Question
Your child must complete a 500 word essay answering that question in their own words.
3 - Apply for Financial Aid
We have a generous financial aid package available to those who qualify.

If he/she is a strong all-around student, the JPG Merit Scholarship. If he/she is exceptional in one particular way — the classroom, his/her character, or how he/she carries a team — one of the three BroomTree awards will see him/her more clearly.

No. Every award here is need-blind, and financial aid is a separate application with its own deadline.

The composite score on the high school placement test — roughly the top fifth of test-takers nationally. It applies only to the Aquinas award.

Your child will interview as part of the application process to JPG. There is no separate scholarship interview.
